Services
The Wilson County Health Department provides a variety of basic health services to prevent and treat illnesses. Most services are by appointment. Based on need and provider availability, work-ins may be accepted. Please call ahead (615-444-5325) to determine your eligibility.
The Health Department serves as a “safety net” for the uninsured, providing a sliding-scale fee based on income. We also act as the primary care provider for assigned TennCare patients. Please call for further information.
Children's Services
- Well-child check-ups, including physical exams and screening tests

Adult Services
- Primary Care, including minor illnesses, physicals, pap smears, colorectal, and other tests to screen for cancer
- Tuberculosis diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up
- Immunizations against influenza (flu), pneumonia, and tetanus boosters
- Confidential diagnosis, treatment, and counseling for Sexually Transmitted Diseases, including HIV/AIDS
- WIC (Women, Infants and Children) Nutrition Program
- Family Planning

- Vital Records: Birth and Death Certificates
- Health Education: Provides health-related educational programs in the community
- Environmental Health Services: Inspection of foodservice establishments, hotels, public swimming pools, bed and breakfast establishments, campgrounds, tattoo and body piercing studios, childcare facilities, and schools
- Emergency Preparedness: Serves as a community partner in the protection against the onset of epidemics and other possible bio-hazard events
COVID-19 Vaccinations & Testing
Starting March 1st, 2023, the local health departments will provide COVID-19 PCR testing only to primary care patients in their facility. The health department will continue to provide free take-home tests which will be available upon request.
Individuals can stop by the health department to request a free take-home self-test kit Mondays through Fridays, from 8:00am to 4:00pm.
COVID-19 vaccinations will be given each Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30am to 9:45am with an appointment. To schedule your appointment or for more information, please call the Wilson County Health Department at (615) 444-5325.
Covid-19 Vaccinations

On scheduled day and time, please come inside to the health department to check in and to fill out the paperwork. A nurse will then see you, take you to a clinical room, and administer the vaccine.

Covid-19 PCR Testing
Wednesdays from 9:00am to 11:00am (Hours will change beginning March 1st, see above).
No appointment needed.
For COVID-19 PCR testing, simply drive in, pull into a parking spot, and come inside to the health department to check in and to fill out the paperwork. A nurse will then see you, take you to a clinical room, and administer the PCR test.
